I felt it! Just today! I went outside and I felt the first chill in the air- the first sign that Autumn is just around the corner. In fact, I was beginning to feel a little run down, my nose was stuffy and I kept sneezing. Hmmm, could this be the first sign of the flu?
For many, this is back to school time. School can be a particularly stressful time of year- and it only gets worse during exam time. European Solidago is a perennial plant native to Europe that has spread throughout Europe, northern Africa, North America and parts of Asia. It is common to see it growing in the woods and on the side of the road, as well as being cultivated in gardens. It blooms from late summer through early fall.
It is interesting that no proving exists of Solidago as it is one of the oldest remedies in our materia medica. Here are some typical symptoms that have been confirmed in clinical use by homeopaths: 
- Inhalation of the pollen has caused hemorrhage from lungs, especially in tuberculosis
- Repeated colds of tuberculosis
- Feeling of weakness, chilliness alternating with heat; nasopharyngeal catarrh (li.e. the discharge from a cold), burning in throat, pains in limbs and oppression of chest
- Pain in region of kidneys with dysuria (pain/discomfort during urination)
- Kidneys sensitive to pressure
- Bright’s disease
- Hay fever when Solidago is the exciting cause
- Injected (swollen and red), watery, burning and stinging eyes
- Oppressed breathing
- Continuous dyspnea
- Asthma with nightly dysuria
- Diseases arising from or complicated by DEFECTIVE FUNCTION OF KIDNEYS

A Recipe From Our Office Manager
K*’s Lemon Meringue Pie
Ingredients:
1 cup cane sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups water
2 lemons, juiced and zested
2 tablespoons butter
4 egg yolks, beaten
1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
4 egg whites ( I use double the amount to make the pie really high! = 8 egg whites!)
6 tablespoons white sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
To Make Lemon Filling:
In a medium saucepan, whisk together 1 cup sugar, flour, cornstarch, and salt. Stir in water, lemon juice and lemon zest. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a boil. Stir in butter. Place egg yolks in a small bowl and gradually whisk in 1/2 cup of hot sugar mixture. Whisk egg yolk mixture back into remaining sugar mixture. Bring to a boil and continue to cook while stirring constantly until thick. Remove from heat. Pour filling into baked pastry shell.
To Make Meringue: In a large glass or metal bowl, whip egg whites until foamy. Add sugar gradually, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form. Spread meringue over pie, sealing the edges at the crust.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until meringue is golden brown.
