What is homeopathy? It’s infinitesimal. It’s powerful. It’s gentle and it’s curative. Homeopathy can alleviate common ailments like PMS, erectile dysfunction, depression, low energy levels, and teething complaints, as well as complicated chronic diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s disease, autism, heart disease, cancer and countless symptoms which have no classification.
Small Doses Activate Built-in Healing Mechanisms
How does it do this? Because homeopathic prescribing is based on the “Law of Similars” – If the disorder caused by the drug is similar to a disease or symptom picture, the drug can cure the symptoms when given in small doses. And each drug causes a specific disorder. For example, the Deadly Night Shade plant, or Belladonna, can produce a disorder that resembles scarlet fever. In minute doses, Belladonna can heal cases of scarlet fever, if the symptoms match.
Drugs Cure the Disorders They Cause
Any substances that can cause symptoms can be used as a medicine when given in a small enough doses. Homeopathic experts test new drugs on healthy subjects (a “proving”); and from those tests and toxicology reports, they discover the symptoms and disorders caused by each drug. Then the drugs, or remedies, are used in infinitesimal doses in clinical settings to treat patients who exhibit similar disorders.
Healing With Pure Energy
Homeopathic pharmacies literally turn material medicines into pure energy in a process called dynamization or potentization. Drugs are potentized by serial dilution and shaking (succussion). Dilution reduces the chemical concentration of the drug and succussion transfers the drugs’ medicinal properties to the water (similar to Masaru Emoto’s claims in his work titled Messages from Water). Remedies may be diluted beyond the point where any molecules remain; however, the drug’s structural patterns are preserved and propagated – even after the drug itself is diluted out. Scientists have identified these structural traits as the carriers of the drugs’ medicinal effect. When the homeopathic medicine is taken by the patient, the body recognizes its pattern and responds by launching an adaptive effort – in other words, you get better!
How Homeopaths Treat
During a consultation, homeopaths observe the signs of disease and ask patients how they feel. The homeopath then compares these with a drug data-base, or Materia Medica, to find the medicine that best resembles these sign and symptoms. A single drug is selected that matches an individual’s specific condition. Treatment is never routine. In fact, homeopathic treatment takes the peculiarities of each patient’s condition into account and patients with the same diagnosis may each get a different medicine. Remedies must be taken as prescribed and regular follow-up consultations are necessary to reassess any changes. Remedies may be switched or alternated if necessary. Once recovered from the disorder and free from symptoms, treatment is discontinued. That’s right! At some point you can discontinue taking remedies and no longer have any symptoms!
A Complete System of Medicine
Homeopathy can treat almost any condition, although some situations like cephalo-pelvic disproportion, crushed bones, and cerebral palsy may either require surgery or be a life-long condition. Of course, in all three of these conditions, homeopathic treatment can greatly improve the recovery time and/or aide in a general improvement in one’s health. Homeopaths may treat many common or acute ailments, like chicken pox, sexually transmitted diseases, migraines or gallstones. However the bulk of a homeopath’s practice is dedicated to today’s widespread chronic diseases. How many people have resolved themselves to a life-time of medication in order to control chronic ailments such as: high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic backaches/sciatica, bi-polar disorder, MS, fibromyalgia, spectrum disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, OCD, attention deficit disorder, Grave’s disease, and numerous other conditions? The goal of homeopathic treatment is to restore health – not merely to medicate for life. Many patients have completely recovered from serious chronic disorders – ones that are usually known as “incurable”- with proper homeopathic treatment under a trained homeopath.
How was Homeopathy Developed?
“Like cures like” is natural law of healing that has been observed for thousands of years. From ancient Hindu texts to the Bible there are references to this natural law. However, a German chemist and physician named Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann tested it for the first time experimentally in 1796. He ingested a small amount of quinine bark, which was known to cure malaria. Upon doing so, he developed symptoms similar to malaria. Together with medical students and volunteers he tried other untested medicines in the same way, keeping detailed records, and concluded from their symptoms what diseases they could cure. He put this knowledge to further test by using them, one medicine at a time, in a clinical setting on his patients. He noticed that sometimes before curing, the drugs would initially worsen the symptoms. Hahnemann then experimented with greater dilutions, in attempt to avoid these aggravations. From this he eventually developed the potentization method. Potentization develops the medicinal properties further, a fact which modern science has proven, and at the same time, makes the medicine free from unwanted side-effects.
Medicine of Choice – for Celebrities or Anybody!
Homeopathy is believed to be the world’s most popular form of non-traditional medicine (based on statements by the World Health Organization). It has been the treatment of choice by cultural icons, figure heads and celebrities like Prince Charles and the British Royal Family, Charles Darwin, Charles Kettering, George Bernard Shaw, Suzanne Somers, Tina Turner and many others. People of all ages and from all walks of life (even pets and plants!) appreciate the gentle medicines without side effects. Many scientific studies have confirmed its safety and efficacy. One study conducted at the Bristol Homeopathic Hospital in London found 85% efficacy for homeopathic treatment in children.
What Is The Training Of A Homeopath?
Homeopathic practitioners are trained in the human, biological or medical sciences, and most undergo an additional four –year specialty training at a homeopathic college. Once they have received their degree, they apprentice with an experienced practitioner for two years. After completing their requirements, they may sit for a board examination to become certified in their profession. Many also become registered members of a professional association. The mark of a good homeopath is one who continues his education throughout his career, keeping up with the many new developments in homeopathic research as well as the latest advances in convention treatment.
