Alternative Health Suggestions for an Aging Brain, Pt 3 of 4


Aging brain; memory loss, poor memory, pre-senility, early onset dementia, dementia, forgetfulness, comprehension issues, frontal temporal dementia, Alzheimer’s, attention deficit, ADHD, lack of concentration, lack of focus, easily distracted, feeling overwhelmed at dealing with simple tasks, feeling overwhelmed with life, food allergies etc.


Let’s recap the highlights from Part 1 and Part 2 of this article


In part 1(link), we talked about why it was important to eat food grown organically vs. conventionally grown; I talked of MSG (monosodium glutamate) and how this neurotoxin ruins your memory, cognitive functioning and overall health; and we spoke about why it was incredibly important to avoid eating foods that were genetically modified (GMOs) or contained GMO components. And since there are no global labeling laws for these, the only way to avoid them is by eating an all organic diet, or as a minimum, by at least eating only foods labels as NON-GMO.


In Part 2 (link), The topic got a little more serious. I mentioned how Mr. Mueller had coined the term “cell phone dementia” (or had you already forgotten?) I went over why it was so important to reduce, as much as you could, your exposure to microwave radiation from cellphones, cordless phones, WIFI, bluetooth, GPS, cellular towers (masts), Smart meters, etc.

Radiation exposure is cumulative. And don’t forget your smart meters! They are like having a cell phone attached to your house. Replace it. Reduce all forms of wireless communications to help keep that mind of yours sharp as a tack! Go retro! Go wired. I even gave you a long list of SOLUTIONS and alternative ways you could reduce your exposure and still survive in today’s world. Yes, you can survive even if you don’t have that cellphone on you 24/7, I promise!


Now in Part 3, let’s talk about a few more ways to help stop premature aging of our brains.


Ionizing Radiation & X-rays Age our Brains


We are constantly exposed to nuclear (ionizing) radiation (look at this weeks readings!) . Did you know some of the proving symptoms for Radium bromatum (the radiation used for cancer treatments, a form of ionizing radiation) are apprehensiveness, depression, fear of being alone in the dark, a cloudy mind and unable to think clearly! And ionizing radiation such as Plutonium, Uranium, Cesium, etc., causes cancer.

Stay away from unnecessary x-rays, especially dental x-rays (refuse them & offer to sign a waiver) and from unnecessary mammograms. You can use Thermography instead. If you have to be exposed to an x-rays, take a few doses of the homeopathic remedy X-ray 30C afterwards.

Just because something has become commonplace doesn’t mean it’s healthy or good for us.
Ah, part 2 of how to help your aging brain. First, I’m going to recap some of the symptoms of an aging brain, just to get you pumped up and motivated to read what I’m about to present to you today since you probably won’t like it!


Symptoms of an Aging Brain, an incomplete list:

  • Slower comprehension
  • Confusion
  • Difficult concentration
  • Easily distracted
  • Weakness or slowness of memory
  • Cannot remember what you were about to do or say
  • Forgetfulness for short term events
  • Forgetfulness for long term events
  • Lack of or poor focus
  • Short attention span
  • Saying the wrong word or phrase
  • Getting left and right confused
  • Speaking words in the wrong order
  • Garbled speech or thoughts
  • Inability to handle daily tasks such as returning phone calls or emails
  • irritability
  • Mood swings


Remember, these “brain malfunctions” have become so commonplace that many people have come to think of them as normal. We now think it’s “normal” that children, teens and twenty-somethings are showing these symptoms and we laugh when it happens when we should be worrying and looking for causes and solutions. Just because something has become commonplace doesn’t mean it’s healthy or good for us.

We’ve become so concerned with the visible effects of aging that most of us are overlooking the decline of the most important organ that is truly aging before its time – our brain!


Do you suffer from any of these complaints:

Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer: Recipe

Hand sanitizers are, in principle, a good idea. But the ingredients in most commercially available ones contain a toxic soup of chemicals, fragrances, dyes and preservatives. Why put harmful, immune lowering chemicals on your skin – the very same skin which so readily absorbs toxins into your blood stream?! After all, the purpose of hand sanitizer is to help boost your immune system, not burden it!

Essential Oils Are Medicines

With some many “natural” and “organic” varieties of hand sanitizers available now, why would I want to make my own? Because I have been unable to find one that meets both criteria: 1) has nothing in it that I don’t approve of, 2) is reasonably priced and 3) is unscented. I, for one, don’t want any fragrances on my hands, even if they are “natural”! People have become addicted to fragrances in their everyday lives. Most people do not realize HOW scented their households and lives have become until something snaps in their own health and they become chemically sensitive like I did 12 years ago.

Every fragrance can cause symptoms, seen and unseen. For example, Lavender essential oil, which is in SO MANY products these days, has been the subject of a homeopathic proving (like a drug trial or test). What does that mean? it means that people have noticed symptoms when using lavender and the homeopathic proving set out to find out EXACTLY what kinds of symptoms this substance could elicit!

Lavender, as with most essential oils, is a medicine. Reactions to any substance are dose dependent. The larger the dose, the more symptoms. And, as my final injection of homeopathic tennets goes – everyone has their individual sensitivities. Some people are more sensitive, some people are more robust! Why Buy “Natural” Diapers

Before the birth of our first child, my husband and I decided to use cloth diapers. Not only would cloth diapers create no landfill waste, but they had no chemicals or fragrances in them – a healthy choice for a healthy baby! Although I wasn’t keen on the idea of having even more laundry to keep up with, I thought it was worth the effort. However, fate had a different plan.


After a 44 hour labor followed by a c-section, my body felt wrecked. (Unlike many, this surgery was medically necessary, but that is a story for another blog!) For more than six weeks, I was unable to carry my new baby girl while walking. In my disabled state, the high maintenance of cloth diapers was simply no longer an option. Our brand new baby girl immediately had problems with diaper rash. Constant problems. Her poor bottom would have tender red spots that sometimes merged into a large solid “beet-red” area.     Healthy Cosmetics: Nail Polish

    Every step you can take towards improving your health counts. Cosmetics and personal care products are a big area where you can make healthier choices, simply. Take nail polish, for example. The nail polish for sale at your local drugstore contains multiple ingredients that are toxic for your health such as camphor (antidotes most homeopathic remedies in addition to its health effects) and known carcinogens such as formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and toluene, just to name a few.

    So, yes, there are safe alternatives to nail polishes. Yes, you still have to remove them with very toxic rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. But overall, they are somewhat safer. So if you aren’t willing to ditch nail polish all together, then consider using one of the following brands instead:

    Toilet Hygiene – Commentary, Solutions

    Oh, he went there alright!

    In the spring of 2011, Dr. Joseph Mercola (you know the guy, had a daily blog post about the most personal of the personals- toilet hygiene! That’s right, he talked about our cleanliness on the toilet, and what we could do to improve it. An honorable endeavor that we have shied away from until now, but I figured, if he can talk about it, so can we!

    In Mercola’s article, he takes the “convincing” approach and gets, uh, graphic about it (see link below). Of course, he has a product to sell. But I have to say, what he’s come up with is a good solution. He is selling a toilet-mounted bidet!
